Shoulder Pain Care

Shoulder pain can come from more than one structure.

Pain with reaching, lifting, sleeping, dressing or normal daily movement can involve the shoulder joint, tendons, surrounding soft tissues — or sometimes the neck. Modern Spine Health and Injury Care begins with an individual evaluation before recommending a conservative treatment plan.

Shoulder • Joint • Tendon • Soft Tissue

Find out what is actually limiting your shoulder.

A focused evaluation can help distinguish a local shoulder problem from pain that may be referred from another area, including the neck.

Evaluation First The location of pain alone does not always identify the source.
Conservative Options The practice offers chiropractic care, Class 4 laser therapy and shockwave therapy.
Individualized Plan Treatment recommendations depend on the patient's history and examination findings.

Understanding Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is built for motion — which also makes it complex.

The shoulder combines multiple joints, tendons, muscles and other soft tissues to create a large range of motion. When one or more of those structures becomes irritated, everyday movements can become uncomfortable.

Symptoms can vary from a dull ache or stiffness to sharp pain, painful reaching, weakness or discomfort at night. An examination helps determine which findings are most relevant before deciding what type of care may be appropriate.

Some shoulder symptoms need prompt medical attention.

A major injury with visible deformity, inability to move the arm, sudden severe weakness, chest pain, shortness of breath, or other emergency symptoms should be evaluated promptly.

Available Care Options

Different shoulder problems may call for different approaches.

The original page labeled “Shoulder Pain” was largely populated with DRX9000 spinal-decompression material. This rebuild separates shoulder care from spinal decompression and focuses on the conservative services that may actually be relevant to a shoulder complaint after evaluation.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is one of the technologies offered by the practice and may be considered for selected musculoskeletal and soft-tissue complaints when clinically appropriate.

Laser Therapy

The practice offers Class 4 laser therapy, which may be incorporated into a shoulder care plan when appropriate for the patient's presentation.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic and musculoskeletal evaluation may help assess movement restrictions and whether the neck, upper back or shoulder region is contributing to the complaint.

What May Be Involved

Several structures can produce shoulder symptoms.

Rotator Cuff & Tendon Irritation

The tendons surrounding the shoulder can become irritated or injured and may cause pain with reaching, lifting or certain arm movements.

Joint Irritation & Stiffness

The shoulder joint and nearby joints can become painful or restricted, affecting normal range of motion and everyday activity.

Soft-Tissue Problems

Muscles and other soft tissues around the shoulder can become painful after overuse, repetitive activity, strain or injury.

Referred Pain From The Neck

Not every pain felt in the shoulder originates in the shoulder itself. Neck-related nerve or musculoskeletal problems can sometimes produce symptoms into the shoulder or arm.

Shoulder Pain FAQ

Common questions about shoulder pain care.

Pain with lifting or reaching can have several possible sources, including tendons, the shoulder joint and surrounding soft tissues. An evaluation is needed to determine which findings are most relevant in your case.
They can in some cases. Symptoms from the neck may extend into the shoulder or arm, which is one reason the location of pain alone does not always identify its source.
Both technologies are offered by Modern Spine Health and Injury Care. Whether either treatment is appropriate depends on the specific condition and examination findings.
There is no universal timeline. Shoulder complaints can have different causes and individual responses to care vary, so a specific result or recovery time cannot be guaranteed.

Shoulder Pain

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression works by decompressing the injured disc of your spine, leading to a negative pressure within the disc. This technology is quite advanced because we can target the exact discs which are causing your problem.

The DRX9000.

If you are suffering with chronic lower back pain or chronic neck pain, you may benefit from a surgical alternative known as non surgical decompression therapy. Discover the DRX9000.

Over time, whether there is injury or neglect, the spinal discs in our back begin to degenerate, very similar to a garden not getting water. When this happens, the discs become weak, and can tear causing a herniation.

If these disc injuries are not corrected, continued degeneration occurs until the disc becomes arthritic leading to symptoms such as back pain, leg pain, sciatica and even neuropathy.

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression using the DRX9000 works by gently distracting these injured discs so as to allow nutrients to be brought back into the disc. Once this occurs, natural healing processes can occur.

How Decompression Works.

Non Surgical Spinal Decompression works by gently decompressing the injured disc of your spine, leading to a negative pressure within the disc. The technology is quite advanced because we can target specific discs which are causing your problem.

The DRX9000 has the capability to treat only those injured discs, leaving other discs alone.

Essentially, this negative pressure creates a vacuum like effect which reduces the herniation. The reduction of the herniation leads to a reduction in pressure off the nerve root. Once this is stabilized, your back pain or leg pain symptoms will be alleviated.

The Process.

Once your case is evaluated and treatment will begin the following steps are initiated. On your first visit you will meet each of our staff and you will be instructed on what is going to happen during treatment that day, and you will also be educated on what you should and should not be doing at home to help your recovery process.

When you start treatment on the DRX9000, you will be fitted with an upper and lower harness. Then, you will stand upright against the machine bed, while our staff slowly lowers you to a more flatten position. If you have trouble lying on your back, don’t worry. This position will be temporary as we provide a knee booster prior to treatment commencing. While on the DRX9000 the specialized computer-controlled table relaxes you. Treatment takes 20-30 minutes, and your treatment plan will be customized to your individual needs and symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Who Qualifies For Spinal Decompression?

Non-surgical spinal decompression(DRX9000) is appropriate for individuals who are over the age of 18 and have persistent or recurrent pain.  If you have degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, bulging discs, or have failed back surgery syndrome, you may qualify for this treatment.

How Long Does The Treatment Take?

The treatments typically take between 20-30 minutes and you will have these sessions for several weeks.  Depending on your progress, we may decrease these sessions as the pain or condition decreases.

When Will I See Results?

If you choose non-surgical spinal decompression for your condition, you may start to feel a reduction in your symptoms and pain within the first week.  A more notable change is typically felt in the second week of your care plan, depending naturally on your condition.
